TAKE OFF ALL YOUR BURDENS
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1 NLT).
In our lives, situations exist that seem as if we are carrying a heavy burden that diminish our strength and doesn’t let us easily advance into the different areas of our life. This passage speaks to us about the witnesses that have already gone through this earth and, in their difficult situations, their faith let them see the purpose of God fulfilled. What do you need to do to easily advance in the race of life?
1. Strip yourself of all burdens. When an athlete runs a race, he doesn’t do it while carrying a backpack, rather he tries to carry as little weight as possible nothing bothers him. Problems in our lives cause tiredness and they are a burden we should get rid of and give to God.
2. Strip ourselves of all sin. Sin causes slowness and tiredness, which impedes us from continuing our race toward success and God’s purpose. If we want to advance in our race, we should first be honest with God, confess, and part from all sin so our path can be prosperous.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1 NLT).
Think about it:
What is the burden you are carrying that hasn’t let you advance.
Do you need to rid yourself of a burden or sin to advance toward your purpose?
Where do you want to advance toward?
