Resting in God saves you from problems

RESTING IN GOD SAVES YOU FROM PROBLEMS

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it. (Isaiah 30:15 NLT)

I see many key words relating to rest in this passage:

  • You will be saved (if you rest in God)
  • Quietness
  • Confidence
  • Rest

Resting in God is not: not working hard, it doesn’t mean inactivity.
It is returning to God. Sometimes we want to do things in our own ways and take God out of our plans, and we end up getting tired and into problems.

We shouldn’t worry so much that we do not enjoy life.

When we worry much it’s because we are not trusting in God, rather in our own strengths and abilities.

We need to understand that we are not God and that He has control of what we cannot control.

We shouldn’t let the worries of His church (ministry) make us sick. It’s His church, His bride, His wife, not ours.

When we worry too much or feel that certain burdens are too heavy, it is possible that we are doing something God has not asked us to do, because God’s burdens are light.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT)

Think about it:

What has had you burdened or tired?
What had you been trying to do in your own way without consulting God?
Have you stopped enjoying life? What have you been doing that God has not asked you to do?
