THE IMPATIENCE OF THE IMPATIENT
What is impatience? Instability produced by something that bothers or does not arrive.
Unfortunately, many of us lack that spiritual quality, we are not patient. Many people boast about not liking to wait, they get bothered if things aren’t done in the moment or in the time they think is to their liking.
With paperwork, mechanics, our children, etc. we tend to lose patience and grow bothered, we become demanding and act overbearing. But that does not work with God.
According to the law, the priest was the one who would offer sacrifices to God. This was not Saul’s position as king. The people began to abandon Saul out of fear, and the king acted with desperation and offered the sacrifice, which was not his place. This was the beginning of the end for Saul.
On some occasions, we find ourselves in similar positions to Saul. We find ourselves in predicaments when the circumstances that surround us take different route than we had anticipated. We make wrong choices and open doors that should remain close, and we allow impatience to direct our path.
There are two types of time: Cronos and Kairos. One is the time of man that is measured with a clock and calendar, and the other is God’s time that is defined by His will, not by a clock or calendar. We human beings do not know God’s time, the perfect moment. The only thing we need to do is be patient, because impatience leads us to do foolish things.
Think about it:
Have you made any wrong decisions or acted wrongly out of impatience?
How can you develop the fruit of the spirit of patience?
Have you done things in your own strengths instead of waiting on God?
