The right hand that sustains us

THE RIGHT HAND THAT SUSTAINS US

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NLT)

A few days ago, an earthquake from California was felt in Las Vegas. I was at home and my daughter came out of the bathroom, looking concerned with toothpaste in her mouth and toothbrush in hand, and she asked me, “Did you feel the earthquake?”

I immediately noticed that some of our hanging lights were swaying like a pendulum.

In the same way, many of us feel that our lives move like a pendulum. We metaphorically experience earthquakes in our daily lives and feel unbalance in our families, finances, health, or emotions.

In these difficult situations we need someone to hold on to, an arm or hand that will make us feel secure.

Today we felt an earthquake in Las Vegas, but I had also “casually” read this verse earlier, as if God were telling me He knew it would come but to remember these 7 things:

  1. Don’t be afraid.
    2. I am with you (Don’t feel alone)
    3. Don’t be discouraged.
    4. I am your God.
    5. I will give you strength.
    6. I will help you.
    7. I will sustain you with my right hand.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NLT)

Think about it:

What area of your life is like a pendulum?

Have you felt alone or fear when your life “shakes”?

In what way does it help you to know that God is with you and that He will sustain you with His right hand?
