Consequences of and the solution to bitterness

CONSEQUENCES OF AND THE SOLUTION TO BITTERNESS

Your own actions have brought this upon you.
This punishment is bitter, piercing you to the heart! (Jeremiah 4:18 NLT)

Bitterness penetrates and alters your heart.
Bitterness penetrates and hardens your heart, and that is why it is difficult to show love, give and receive friendship, loyalty, happiness, etc.

Bitterness contaminates your heart and destroys others.

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many (Hebrews 12:15 NLT)

Bitterness doesn’t only harden the heart, but it also contaminates the entire body like a sickness and affects other people. This impedes a true spiritual growth and of course a true coming together with God. Furthermore, bitterness doesn’t only affect one person, but many other members of a family or congregation like a contagious sickness.

Bitterness makes you do unthinkable things.

David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him…(1 Samuel 30:6 NLT)

Bitterness can make you do irrational things without thinking of the consequences and can cause much damage to you or those you love, and that will lead you to repentance.

BITTERNESS HAS A CURE
Think on healing the wounds in your heart. The best way to do this is through forgiveness and love. Always close to God. Ask Him to guide your path until you reach your healing, even if it’s a difficult process, because the reward is great. You will have tranquility, stability, peace, and happiness and that will radiate from you to others that surround you, your family, friends, and ministry.

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many (Hebrews 12:15 NLT)

Think about it:

Do you think any of these points apply to you?
Do you constantly repent from your attitude towards others?
If you want to be happy, do you think lack of forgiveness in your heart will get you there?
