HOW TO OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT
Part 3
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT)
In yesterday’s devotional, we gave three tips to overcome discouragement and today we will share three more:
- Recharge your batteries. Take time every day to do this through daily prayer, speaking with someone who will edify you that won’t be toxic, etc. Every day, take a day to rest.
- Focus on eternity. You need to let go of the things that don’t matter today. Don’t spend time worrying about things that won’t matter tomorrow. Don’t waste your energy on temporary things. Your problems will only last a short time compared to eternity.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (Philippians 3:13-14 NLT)
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
- Remember that together, things are easier. Don’t try to fight battles alone. We will always need other people around us to overcome problems successfully. We are not designed to go through problems alone. Join a House of Peace.

Think about it:
Do you take time to rest and recharge?
Have you let problems waste your energy?
Have you isolated yourself or sought support through your brothers in Christ’s prayers?
In what way will it help you to know that problems are temporary?
