You were called to influence

YOU WERE CALLED TO INFLUENCE

If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them; do not let them influence you! (Jeremiah 15:19 NLT)

Sometimes we are positioned to work or go to school in environments that are very heavy and vulgar, but God has called us to be a light in that place.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. (Mat. 5:14)

In this life, we sometimes find ourselves in places where there are vulgar, ill-spoken, atheist, racist, etc. people.

On these occasions we may want to get out of that world, but we must remember what Jesus said: … I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. (John 17:15-16 NLT)

It will help us very much to change our perspective, and instead of seeing that place as a problem, view it as an opportunity that God gives us to influence others.

You must influence them; do not let them influence you! (Jeremiah 15:19 NLT)

I could live in a garage and that wouldn’t turn me into a car. I could work or study in a place where there are drug addicts, but that wouldn’t turn me into a drug addict.

I am the leader of my life and have control of my life. I will not let myself be influenced by negative people.

I have the opportunity to influence others with the principles and values God has placed in my life. That way, I can be a blessing in my community, school, with my employees, church, etc.

You must influence them; do not let them influence you! (Jeremiah 15:19 NLT)

Think about it:

Do you work in a heavy atmosphere?
Have you let yourself be influenced by wrong things or have you influenced others with good things?
What can you do to take advantage of the opportunity to be a blessing in that place?
