BROKENNESS
Breaking is the method God uses to deal with our ego and independent spirit so humility can come to our lives. Then, we can recognize our sins against Him, confronting ourselves with bravery until we say “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. (Galatians 2:20).
What is the purpose of brokenness?
- Change some things in your life that inhibit God’s blessing such as bad habits, foul language, wrong decisions, etc.
- Void your gifts and abilities so that you can depend on His absolute will. To obtain God’s best, we should be ready to surrender completely to Him.
- The Apostle Paul needed to be humbled because he didn’t understand why God had a plan with him. In his encounter with God, he became blind and had to search for those he persecuted and hated. After that humbling, he became known as one of the Lord’s great apostles. (Acts 9:3-9)
- Lead us to obey God: Example: Such as when a horse is tamed and a brake, muzzle, and whip is used on it. At first, it’s painful, but when the process ends, it hears your voice, immediately stops and walks where you want it to go. That is the same thing God wants to do through brokenness.
- Teach you that He wants to use you in His way, with no complaints. Usually, people tend to fight for their rights, but Jesus never held on to them even though He had them. Rather, He came obeying the Father and never complained.
Think about it:
Do you have an independent spirit, or do you depend on God?
Have you been broken down?
Have you surrendered your life to God?
