Get up, I want to speak to you

GET UP, I WANT TO SPEAK TO YOU

“Stand up, son of man,” said the voice. “I want to speak with you.” (Ezekiel 2:1 NLT)

In this passage, we see God wanting to speak to Prophet Ezekiel. In the same way today, God wants to speak to us. Imagine that God tells us:

“Stand up, son of man,” said the voice. “I want to speak with you.” (Ezequiel 2:1 NTV)

What do you understand by “Stand up”?
I interpret it as the following:
1. “Stand up” can mean: Get up from your sleep for a while and dedicate it to prayer so God can speak to you.
2. “Stand up” can be applied to taking up a position of alertness.
We cannot hear God’s voice if we are always distracted on the phone, television, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
3. “Stand up” can be for every activity in some moments. We live in a society that keeps us occupied, running from one place to another, one activity to another, etc. But, God says: “Stop for a while because I want to speak to you.”
It is beneficial for God to speak to us because it gives us direction on making important decisions in life.

The Spirit came into me as he spoke, and he set me on my feet. I listened carefully to his words. (Ezekiel 2:2 NLT)

Think about it:

Do you take daily time to pray and hear God’s voice?
How can you be more alert to what God wants to tell you?
What has bothered or stopped you from taking out some time to spend with God?
