Three things about the temple’s offerings

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE TEMPLE’S OFFERINGS

When they arrived at the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the family leaders made voluntary offerings toward the rebuilding of God’s Temple on its original site. (Ezra 2:68 NLT) According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work…. (Ezra 2:68-69 NIV)

1.- Offerings have a purpose. They were to be used for temple purposes. In that particular case they needed to rebuild because it had been destroyed.

2.- Offerings should be voluntary.
Generosity is usually spontaneous when we give for something that is important to us and consider it a worthwhile vision.

Some people invest heavily in a last model car, others in their children’s university studies, some are generous at parties and casinos, others are generous in their church, etc. It all depends on what is important for each person.

3. Offerings are according to the capacity of each person.
It is not about giving the same amount but making the same sacrifice. Let us give accordingly to what God has blessed each of us.
