We conserve energy together – III

WE CONSERVE ENERGY TOGETHER
Part III

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

We have been learning about how to strip off every weight that slows us down in life, the weight of problems and worries that wear us out and steal our energy. We have already spoken about three things and today we will speak about two more.
How do we get rid of that weight?

1. Fix your eyes on Jesus so as to not faint.
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. (Hebrews 12:2-3 NLT)

Jesus never sinned, He didn’t deserve what He suffered through, but we did. Sometimes we go through difficult situations because we may have sowed injustice. Problems will make us want to throw in the towel, and if we don’t take care of ourselves, we can faint and want to quit.

Can we get tired in the midst of problems? Yes, we are human. Sometimes we won’t want to see anyone, but the Bible tells us that we can grow weary, however, we shouldn’t faint. That’s why it’s important for us to fix our eyes on Jesus and not on problems, because He is greater than all the problems and He can give us peace even in the midst of them. He has promised to be with us until the end of time.

2. Don’t stop congregating. Because it’s easier to go through problems together. When we congregate and belong to a spiritual family, it helps us to encourage and pray for one another.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (Hebreos 10:25 NLT)

Think about it:

What has helped you in the past to overcome a problem?
Do you have your eyes fixed on Jesus or on problems? Are you congregating?
