WHEN THINGS GET OUT OF CONTROL
Part 2
David confronted a crisis because his family was kidnapped, but he demonstrated a great example of how to act in the midst of a crisis. Yesterday, we learned three things and today we will learn three more.
In crises, we must:
1. Strengthen ourselves in God. Not in alcohol, not in drugs, or working overtime. Even if there is a crisis at home, the leader (husband) should go to God. Strengthen himself in God. Together we strengthen each other in God. We need to learn that no one can fill us up more than God and strengthen ourselves in the Lord.
2. Let God turn your enemies into your allies.
David could have killed the Egyptian because he was part of the kidnappers, but he was wise and fed him so that he would tell him where his family was. God used this Egyptian to give victory to David. When you don’t fight, God fights for you. In that way, you don’t lose your reputation or blessing.
3. Consult God. There are people who consult everyone else but God. People tend to consult their emotions and make wrong choices due to not consulting God. David consulted God and recovered everything he lost and more.
Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” (1 Samuel 30:8 NTV)
David got back everything the Amalekites had taken, and he rescued his two wives. Nothing was missing: small or great, son or daughter, nor anything else that had been taken. David brought everything back. (1 Samuel 30:18 NLT)
Think about it:
Are you going through a crisis?
In what ways will it help you to cry with someone else?
Have you lost control in the midst of a crisis? Did the problem get better or worse?
