WHEN THINGS GET OUT OF CONTROL
Part 1
Three days later, when David and his men arrived home at their town of Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid into the Negev and Ziklag; they had crushed Ziklag and burned it to the ground. They had carried off the women and children and everyone else but without killing anyone. (1 Samuel 30:1-3 NLT)
What should we do when we are in the midst of a crisis and we lose something? David gave us a great example with what he did when his family was arrested. Today we will learn three things and tomorrow three more.
In crises, we should:
1. Be conscious Conscious that, in life, there will be problems. There can be bad news and difficult situations, but we should also be conscious that God is with us. Despite what He was going through (his city being burned, his family kidnapped), David was conscious that God was with him and he had faith. We should be conscious of God’s truth that is above reality.
2. Cry if necessary. It is not bad to cry. It helps to cry together with your family or brothers and sisters in Christ. David cried.
3. Not lose control in the midst of crisis. It’s important to not lose control because, if we do, we can curse, make wrong decisions, speak badly, and do things like drink, be depressed, etc.
David’s men were losing control when they wanted to stone David for having lost their families, but David did not lose control. A leader does not lose control. The leader of the home cannot lose control.
To be continued.…
Think about it:
Are you going through a crisis?
In what way does it help you to cry with someone by your side?
Have you lost control in the midst of a crisis? Did the problem get better or worse?
