Three things about the widow’s offering

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE WIDOW’S OFFERING

Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins(Mark 12:41-42 NLT)

God sees when we bring our tithes and offerings to our church.

Do you want to attract God’s attention and have Him mention you as an example?

Do you wish to be the 20 percent in churches who faithfully tithe and have a correct attitude when it comes to giving and that’s why they are more prosperous?

Here we learn at least three things about the attitude that our hearts should have when giving.

1. Offerings should be voluntary. We should never be forced to be generous. The widow came with pleasure and voluntarily.

2. Offerings should be planned
. When I go to a restaurant, I plan on eating. When I come to the house of God, I also plan on giving my tithes and offerings, just like praying, studying His word, serving, singing, and receiving miracles through the supernatural power of God.

3. We should give in a proportion of how much God has blessed us
. We cannot give something we don’t have. The widow gave what she had. We give according to what God gives us every week. If I didn’t receive anything, well then, I don’t give anything. If He gives me a little bit, I’ll give a little bit. If He gave me much this week, then I give it much.

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions.  For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” (Mark 12:43-44 NLT)

When there isn’t only a 20% of people who are faithful in giving in the church, and when everyone gives voluntarily and proportionately, there won’t be indebted churches, there will be more helpful to the poor, more missionaries, Christian schools, the parking lot construction will be finished, a school in your church, there will be less time invested in holding car washes and more time in advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ by visiting hospitals, jails, and making Houses of Peace.

There would be more blessed people in churches because they would be receiving continual and abundant blessings from God since the Bible says:

“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.”. (2 Corinthians 9:6 NLT)

Think about it:

Are you part of the 20% of people who faithfully tithe and are prosperous, or would you like to be part of this?
Do you plan your tithes and offerings every week or only give it if you feel like doing so?
What would Jesus say about your tithes and offerings?
