It’s not your fault II

IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT II

Now the Lord said to Samuel, “You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.” (1 Samuel 16:1 NLT)

Yesterday we were learning: Up to what point are we responsible for the crises that are caused by others’ wrong choices? Many times, it’s painful for us to see what others do, but we are not responsible, it is not our fault, and there is nothing we can do about it. We cannot be crying all the time. Each person is responsible for their actions and choices, but what can we do in these situations?

1.Forgive yourself. There are things that we actually did do wrong, and for that we must forgive ourselves. Example:
-When I was a child, I accidentally set my house on fire and my stepmother suffered big burns.
-As a young man, I was not the best father.

But now everyone is responsible for their own choices. It is the child who decides whether they want to be an alcoholic like their father or not.

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. (1 John 2:1 NLT)

2. Pray for them. Pray for those that don’t want to change but don’t carry their burden.
-You are not obligated to pay someone’s home, food, clothes, or alcohol if they are not willing to change.

3. Rest in God. Give these people to God. Let God deal with them just as He did with you.

4. Enjoy the present. What you have done right. I decided to come to Christ and change my life. You shouldn’t lose your joy over those who reject them medicine that is Christ.

5. Assist a House of Peace. Together we can help each other be free of guilt that doesn’t belong to us.

Think about it:

Up to what point are we responsible for suffering through the wrong choice’s others have made who don’t want to change?
What guilt were you living with?
What changes have you made in Christ?
