Opportunities in the midst of trials II

OPPORTUNITIES IN THE MIDST OF TRIALS II

Dear brothers and sisters,[a] when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.. (James 1:2-4 NLT)

Yesterday we were learning that trials discourage many people and they lose the ability to dream, but the Word of God pushes us to see problems as something that brings the best out of us, and as an opportunity to develop constance and patience, but they’re also:

An opportunity to be honest.  (James 1:4 NLT)

Trials perfect your character. Trials are necessary for our character to be formed and be as firm as steel. Iron is made by melting the mineral inside a furnace. Since the iron is mixed with many impurities, it must go through fire, water, and be hit until it becomes strong steel, and in that way,  we can use it for many things such as the construction of bridges, highways, cars, etc.
Honesty is a quality of a person’s character.

In the moment of a difficult decision, it brings out the best in you: Be honest in everything you do. Don’t lie, steal time, money, or material, and be punctual. When you do this, God will prosper you and open the doors you had been knocking.

So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing... (James 1:4 NLT)

Think about it:

What opportunities have you seen in the midst of a trial?
In what ways have trials helped bring out the best in you?
Why do you think it is important to develop honesty?
