VIP BADGES

My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others? (James 2:1 NLT)

We are all a VIP (Very important person).

It is very easy to fall into the tendency of treating some people better than others because that is how it is promoted in TV and movies.

We see that the system of this society offers different levels of “status” and we are influenced to do the same.

They put tags on us and tell us that we can be clients “bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc.”

They offer us VIP treatment if we pay a certain amount of money for a membership in hotel chains, in a club, or in a basketball game.

When you fly first class in an airplane it seems that we are treated with more hospitality, than if we fly economy class.

I understand that the person that pays for a first class ticket has the right to a better seat with more space and better food because they are paying for that, but I believe that hospitality should be extended to everyone, the respect and attitude towards ALL people should be the same.

I should treat others the same way I would want to be treated. I must value the people not caring about their wardrobe or the vehicle they drive.

Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law. (James 2:8-9 NLT)

All human beings are VIP and Christ demonstrated that giving his life for us on the cross. People are more important than things. The most important things are “God and people.”

Think:

How have I treated different people lately?

How have I treated kids, youth, adults, the rich and the poor, men and women?
