ENTHUSIAST OR PASSIONATE
1. Laodicea was a lukewarm church, “moderate”
Cold waters are refreshing, hot water is medicinal. But lukewarm water causes nausea. A lukewarm church does not have passion for the souls, it’s a moderate church that tolerates sin.
2. God calls us to be intense.
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ (Mark 12:30)
The baptism of the Holy Spirit takes away anything lukewarm in us and doesn’t only make us intense to dance, but also to preach, evangelize, serve, etc. Lukewarm people don’t want to clap in church, but they can shout at a party full of alcohol or soccer game.
Jesus was intense.
• He let himself be whipped and humiliated.
• He lost His life for others in his early 30’s.
• The multi, multi, multimillionaire renounced to His riches and made Himself poor so they could be enriched.
• He wh0 had millions of soldiers at His service to fight for him chose to fight alone and on a cross.
• He who was intense ended up nailed to a cross for having renounced to his throne of majesty.
• He who died by voluntarily giving His life, but in reality, is the author and giver of life.
“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen—the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation: “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!
Think about it:
Do you consider yourself an enthusiast or passionate for Christ? Are you cold, hot, or lukewarm in the things of God? What changes do you need to do to not be cold or much less, lukewarm?
