How to overcome fears

HOW TO OVERCOME FEARS

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT)

Yesterday we learned about the fears that the majority of people deal with, and how it is important to defeat them to be able to receive God’s blessings. Today we share 3 tips to be able to overcome them:

1.- Eliminate the “what ifs”. “…what if something happens to me?” “…what if they tell me no” “…and what if…” Eliminate this from your vocabulary and begin to speak words of faith, declare God’s promises for your life, because they are yes and amen.

2.- Know God’s promises. King David knew them, that’s why he trusted in God to defeat Goliath and that gave him the victory. To know them, you should read the Word of God daily. What’s in your heart? If instead of Reading the Bible you watch TV, then that is what’s in your heart. Take time to know God’s promises for your life. For example, look at this beautiful promise of God: This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NLT)

3.- Place your trust in God. Not in your abilities, nor in what people say. Learn to depend on God, because you are safer in His hands. That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? (Matthew 6:25 NLT)

David had his trust in God, that’s why he said:

David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (1 Samuel 17:45 NLT)

Think about it:

What words do you need to eliminate from your vocabulary?
Do you know God’s promises for your life?
Have you deposited your trust in your abilities, people, bank account, or God?
