Return to Bethel

RETURN TO BETHEL

So Jacob told everyone in his household… We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone. (Gen. 35:2-3 NLT)

Bethel in greek means “House of God.

Jacob returned to build an altar in a place where he had once been in trouble and where God responded to his cries and prayers. It’s time to remember and be grateful.

Most of us have gone through some critical time in our life where we have prayed and God has pushed us forward.

That’s why it’s good to remember what  has been our “Bethels” and give thanks to God because he has helped our family and our health.

That is why we also come every week to the temple, to the house of God (Bethel) to build an altar of prayer and songs in gratitude for protecting us and blessing us in all of our ways.

So Jacob told everyone in his household… We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone. (Gen. 35:2-3 NLT)

Think about it:

Do you go to church (Bethel) only when you have problems? or every week to give thanks to God?
What have been your bethel’s? What prayers have been answered for which you are grateful for?
How do you respond to God for always being with you?
