Temptation, sin and forgiveness

TEMPTATION, SIN AND FORGIVENESS

“One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting!” (Luke 17: 1 NLT)

THE FIRST thing you should understand is that while we are on this earth, temptation will never disappear from our lives. This helps us to not feel like a lost hopeless case or to believe ourselves to be perfect saints on earth. We will all be tempted.

SECONDLY, “If you don’t want trouble, don’t go looking for it.” It’s one thing to be tempted and another to intentionally seek problems by provoking situations in which we are more likely to be weak and fall into temptation. Don’t go to places or environments where you know, can make you fall.

If you are an ex alcoholic, avoid frequenting bars and environments where you feel in danger of relapsing. If you are a very depressed person, don’t listen to sentimental music that will make the situation worse.

Temptation is normal but don’t go looking for it.

The wise fear and depart from evil; But the fool is arrogant and is confident.

Think about it:

What temptations are you struggling with?
What things do you have to separate from to avoid falling into temptation?
What can you do to keep pleasing God with your life?
