Don’t disguise yourself as someone you’re not

DON’T DISGUISE YOURSELF AS SOMEONE YOU’RE NOT

So Saul disguised himself by wearing ordinary clothing instead of his royal robes. Then he went to the woman’s home at night… (1 Samuel 28:8 NLT

In crisis, people tend to lose their identity.
In the crises we must not trust our emotions, but our convictions.
We shouldn’t disguise ourselves as someone we’re not.

While Saul took off his royal robes and went to seek help from witchcraft, David strengthened himself in God, he remembered that God is his source, that he had been anointed as king.

… But David found strength in the Lord his God.
Then he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring me the ephod!” So Abiathar brought it.  (1 Samuel 30:6-8)

Saul took off the king’s clothes, but David sent for the priest’s clothes.
David consulted God; Saul consulted witchcraft.
Saul consulted a witch; David consulted a priest of God.

  1. Remember who you are. I am what God says I am, I have what God says I have, and I can do what God says I can do.
  2. Remember who is your source.
  3. Don’t dress up as someone you’re not.

Keep your identity and don’t get lost. Keep living on purpose. Keep doing what God commanded you to do in this world, keep using your gifts and don’t give place to discouragement and laziness.

So Saul disguised himself by wearing ordinary clothing instead of his royal robes. Then he went to the woman’s home at night… (1 Samuel 28:8 NLT)

Think about it:

Have you allowed the crisis to make you forget who you are (your identity)?
Have you removed your ministerial garments from God in this time of crisis?
Do you check the news before God?
