IT BENEFITS ME TO CONSULT GOD
After this, David asked the Lord, “Should I move back to one of the towns of Judah?”, “Yes,” the Lord replied. Then David asked, “Which town should I go to?”, “To Hebron”, the Lord answered.(2 Samuel 2:1 NLT)
It calls my attention that after David asked God these questions, he was soon anointed as king. That is, consulting God and obeying His instructions guide us to moments of anointing, influence, and victory.
Lord, I don’t want to be like the fools who crash into life for ignoring your directions.
A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished. (Prov. 22:3 NKJV)
Lord, I want to be like David, the man according to the heart of God.
Give me clear instructions.
I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”. (Psalms 40:8)
Think about it:
Do you consult God before making any decision?
Why do you think it is important to consult God and ask Him for guidance?
What consequences have you had for making decisions lightly without consulting God?
