Let’s leave behind songs of complaint

LET’S LEAVE BEHIND SONGS OF COMPLAINT

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. (Psalms 40:3 NLT)

I’m not used to seeing this kind of trash, but one of these days I watched some videos on YouTube that recorded abuse by some authorities, such as police, immigration, and even bank managers, humiliating people. It affected me emotionally. It ruined my good spirits for a few hours, until I reacted and changed the focus with the Word of God. Let’s sing, let’s sing …

Music is powerful and the vast majority of people tend to express our feelings through singing. Oddly enough, I notice that most of the songs speak about pain, bitterness and resentment over the injustices of life.

The problem: It’s good to express our feelings through songs, but be careful! The problem is that we feed what we sing and eventually we become what dominates our thoughts. So,let’s stop singing and thinking so much about the negative, about the injustices we see at work, about the abuse of authority we suffer, or about the money they stole or didn’t pay us.

That’s why I miss going to church, because it helps me a lot to sing all the songs and the preaching of the Word of God.

This refocuses my thoughts.
It transforms me. Over the years I have become what God says I am, a successful person.
I enjoy life more. I have two options: Complain about everything that is bad in the world, or enjoy the good that is in it.
Before knowing Christ, I suffered a lot when I martyred myself with toxic thoughts and songs. Now… I choose to focus on new songs!!

Put music to this song:

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.. (Psalms 40:3-5 NLT)

Think about it:

What do you sing?
What is in your heart and in your mind? Have you allowed injustices to take away your joy?
Could you give a new song to God out of gratitude?
