I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LIKE
While I read this, I apply it to my life thinking that God tells me, “I know what you are like, Guillermo.” Sometimes we have a certain image for many different types of places. For example, we dress one way to go to church and another to go to work at a car repair shop. We dress elegantly for a Father’s Day photo, but casually to play a game of soccer. This is appropriate, but I ask myself if I truly know myself on the inside.
1.- We have a public image. This is what we want others to know about us, or the opinion we want others to have of us.
2.- We have a personal, private image.
This is how we see ourselves.
This is what we know about ourselves, but we don’t make it public.
We can have negative or positive thoughts about ourselves, and no one knows them.
3.- We have an internal part about us that we don’t even know about ourselves.
These are blind spots in our lives. They are areas that we don’t consciously know we have.
Lord, you say that the heart is more deceitful than anything. Who knows it well? (Jer. 17:9-10) But, I know that you know me better than I know myself.
God, show me those areas that bother me and give me your grace to change them. Don’t let me lie to myself. I don’t want to fight against your will. I don’t want to delay my success, and don’t want to deviate from your purpose.
Think about it:
Have you created a public image for yourself?
Do you know your strengths and weaknesses well?
Have you asked God to show you the areas of your life He wants you to change?
