THE MAN WHO FOUND STRENGTH II
Yesterday we spoke about how David’s friends wanted to stone him because they were hurt because of what had happened to them. You and I don’t realize it, but unconsciously, we are being worn away. All of a sudden, you are not yourself anymore and you begin to speak rashly to your kids or spouse. Your emotions lose control and your become rude, rash, and highly sensitive.
They were the man that were close to David, those who he had helped and who he had invested maybe time and money in, and now they were betraying him. Have you felt this way? Have you felt betrayed? People lose control and lose their identity in God, but even if many people do you wrong, you and I need to find strength in our Lord Jesus. He is the Prince of Peace.
How do we find strength in the Lord?
1. Let’s continue praying.
2. Let’s continue reading the Bible.
3. Let’s continue writing our devotionals, what God speaks to us.
4. Let’s continue congregating, even if it’s online.
5. Let’s continue serving.
6. Let’s continue being generous.
Let’s continue praying! An easy way of learning how to pray is through the acrostic ASFA:
-Appreciation.Every day dedicate some time to be grateful, and this way you will experience a more sensitive heart.
-Surrender. Surrender everything to God.
-Forgiveness. Dedicate time to forgive those who have offended you, and ask for forgiveness. For example, David’s friends were bitter, but David was a grateful man. He would surrender himself to God and lived in continual forgiveness, and he was a worshiper.
-Adoration.
In these times, we need to find strength and we only find that in God. Maybe you were wearing away because of everything that is going on, but, strengthen yourself like David in the Lord your God. Do these four things and you will come out stronger like David!
Think about it:
In what ways had you lost control during these times?
Are you being a healthy disciple praying, reading the Bible, and writing what God speaks to you during these times?
Which of the four points in the acrostic ASFA do you need to apply?
