Never belittle a young person

NEVER BELITTLE A YOUNG PERSON

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. 2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. (2 Chronicles 34:1-3 NLT)

How old was Josiah when he was made king?
He was an eight-year-old boy, but he gained experience in another eight years, and when he was a young man of only 16 years old, he began to seek God, whom David had served.

I imagine he was thinking something like this: “If David has been the best king and was called the man after God’s own heart, I want to know what was the reason for his success. I also want to be successful like him and I will be passionate about God like David was”.

How many 16-year-olds do you know who are passionate about God today?

Not many. But those few that we find change the world and raise up powerful ministries.

Later on Josiah was a young visionary in his 20s that God used to bring reforms to the country.

1 Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David. In his twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of high places Asherah poles and idols. (2 Chronicles 34:1-3 NTV)

Never belittle a young person!

Think about it:

At what age did you begin to seek God?
In what way have you been a light for this world?
Do you have young people around who you are inspiring to seek God with passion?
Are you being an example for young people?
