Careful with what I look – part 2

CAREFUL WITH WHAT I LOOK
AT IN TIMES OF PRESSURE AND STRESS PART II

As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord, (Exodus 14:10 NLT)

Yesterday we learned that we must be careful what we see in these difficult times. The Israelites made several mistakes, the first was that they looked at danger instead of focusing on God, and so came the second mistake:

Mistake #2They panicked.  Its so important not to panic these days, it’s so difficult to maintain peace, calm and trust; because when we are under pressure something happens to our brain, and it freezes when we see danger.

When we panic, we feel trapped and with no way out, we enter a state of survival and begin to fight with those we love most and don’t know why. We are like the people of Israel who forgot that the cloud was there, that God’s presence was there, and they entered a survival mode and began to fight against Moses.

When a person panics it’s like when someone is drowning and starts to wrestle, and it’s dangerous because it can drown even the lifeguard who is trying to save them. That happens in our homes, the effect of the Covid has stressed us, the demonstrations of violence in the streets, insecurity and uncertainty and we begin to fight with those who want to save us. Let’s not make the same mistake, don’t focus your gaze on danger so you aren’t filled with panic, focus your gaze on God.

As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord, (Exodus 14:10 NLT)

Think about it:

Have you felt trapped and at a dead-end at this time?
Have you let stress make you fight with your family?
What can you do to keep the peace in your home in the midst of a crisis?
