The sheep gate

THE SHEEP GATE

Then Eliashib the high priest and the other priests started to rebuild at the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and set up its doors, building the wall as far as the Tower of the Hundred…. (Nehemiah 3:1 NLT)

The “sheep” make me think of people, both those who already have Christ in their hearts and those who don’t.
“The gate” speaks to me of a means or a place of entry to connect people with God.

In this time of pandemic some churches have become paralyzed and forgotten to care for the sheep, and to win souls for Christ. But, at Eagles CFC we have been modifying that sheep gate to continue serving people.

That door now looks different, but it is still open for the “sheep.”
It’s perhaps a digital or online door, like the School of Success, Houses of Peace, Online Retreat, online services, etc.

That door of the sheep is opened with acts of love for one another, such as visiting the sick, calls for pastoral care, helping with pantries, giving to the needy, evangelism in the park and in hospitals, intercession, etc.

In this pandemic, let’s keep the “sheep gate” restored.

Then Eliashib the high priest and the other priests started to rebuild at the Sheep Gate. … (Nehemiah 3:1 NLT)

Think about it:

Have you kept the Sheep Gate restored or do you need to start rebuilding it?
How is your church still a blessing to you?
What could you do this week to bring God’s love through an act of service to someone?
