A COMMISSION FOR THE LEADERS IN THE PANDEMIC
Part 2
And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches…
(1 Peter 5:1 )
Yesterday we learned that a task for all of us who have the privilege of serving God through serving people, is to take care of the flock that God entrusted us with and to do it with pleasure. How should we do it?
- Do it as for the Lord.
Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you… because you are eager to serve God.
- Not abusing the authority God gave us.
How should we manage the authority that God has allowed us to have at work, school, or church?
Don’t Lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.
(1 Peter 5:3)
Our example speaks louder than words.
“Preach at all times, and when necessary, use words” (Francisco from Asis).
- What is the reward?
And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.
(1 Peter 5:4 NLT)
Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.
1 Peter 5:2 NLT
Think about it:
Would you change the way you care for people by telling yourself to do it as if for the Lord?
What example are you setting for the flock that God entrusted you with? What are they looking at in you?
Why do you think that in these times it’s necessary now more than ever to serve God through serving people?
