We stop relying on ourselves

WE STOP  RELYING ON OURSELVES

In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God…

(2 Corinthians 1:9 NLT)

When we reach our limit, that’s when we surrender to God.

We stop relying on ourselves because we have already exhausted our resources and we begin to trust God.

… as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God…

(2 Corinthians 1:9 NLT)

We have suffered so much as a society when faced with this covid crisis, with the violence in the streets, racial discrimination, injustice, powerlessness in the face of a small virus, etc.

I wish I could say that most people are learning to trust God because of this.

The tribulation shouldn’t make us bitter and make us monsters, but we should surrender to God and become better human beings, understanding, empathic, etc.

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.

(2 Corinthians 1:8-10 NLT)

Think about it:

Have you already surrendered to God?

Have you already exhausted all your resources in the face of these problems?

Have you begun trusting God instead of relying on yourself?
