Gratitude: antidote vs. depression

GRATITUDE: ANTIDOTE VS. DEPRESSION

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you.Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. (Ephesians 5:3-4 NLT)

What dominates our mind will dominate our actions. Thoughts determine our good and bad actions.

The best way to combat the temptation of depression is not to repeat to ourselves what we do not want to do, but to continuously think what we should be doing.

Connect our mind to what is good, honest, just and pure. (Phil. 4:8)

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.(Philippians 4:8 NTV)

Connect to the blessing God has given you and have a grateful heart towards Him. Think about the good things you could do in this time to contradict the bad thoughts.

Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. (Ephesians 5:3-4 NLT)

Think about it:

In what are you concentrating your thoughts in this time?
Have you done good things during this time?
Do you have an attitude of gratitude towards God or an attitude of complaint?
