Why does God observe the offering?

WHY DOES GOD OBSERVE THE OFFERING?

While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box.  (Luke 21:1-4 NLT)

The Coronavirus pandemic caused many people to have less money.

With less finances, some stopped being generous, but others continued to give with joy according to their possibilities.

Some people gave more, even though the amount was less. Why? Because they presented more sacrifice in this difficult year.

Lets notice three things:

  1. God observes the offerings. He seems to pay attention when we give our tithes, offerings, or gifts.

While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched … (Luke 21:1-4 NLT)

  1. God knows the amount we give.

But why does He observe? Could it be that He is interested in the amount?

  1. 3. God observes our attitude.

He is more interested in our heart than in our money.

The amount is relative, it only reflects the condition of our heart.

Jesus explains it better here.

Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins.

“I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”. (Luke 21:1-4 NTV)

Think about it:

Have you stopped being generous because of the pandemic or have you become more generous?

Have you stopped giving to God out of fear of this time or have you continued giving to Him with joy?

What do you think Jesus would say about your offerings?
