Change your clothes

CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES

So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing. (Genesis 35:2 NLT)

Three things we need to do this year:

1. Remove idols from life.
What is an idol? Anything or person that takes God’s place in our hearts.
2. Purify the heart.
Purify speaks to me of removing resentments, hurts, hatred, revenge, etc. of our heart.
3. Wear clean clothes.
It tells me about entering the new year with different clothes.
-Not with clothes of depression.
How do those depressed dress? Dirty, washed out, dark clothing, etc.
– But with clothes of faith.
How do those who have robes of faith look?
Clothes of color, encouragement, joy, vision, purpose, college, success, etc.

This year let’s remove idols, purify our hearts, and put on clean clothes.

So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing. (Genesis 35:2 NLT)

Think about it:

What idol do you need to remove from your heart?
Is there something in your heart that you need to purify?
What does it mean to you to put on clean clothes?
