They thought differently

THEY THOUGHT DIFFERENTLY

They thought Jesus meant Lazarus was simply sleeping, but Jesus meant Lazarus had died. (John 11:13 NLT)

The language of faith is different from the normal way of speaking.
Faith looks and calls things that aren’t as they already are (Read Romans 4: 17-20).
Jesus saw Lazarus in his mind already risen and because of that, it became easy for him to say that Lazarus was only asleep.

Then he said, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.” (John 11:11 NLT)

The disciples were thinking in natural terms, they were only using their reasoning. They limited themselves to what was logical.

The disciples said, “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will soon get better!”. They thought Jesus meant Lazarus was simply sleeping, but Jesus meant Lazarus had died. (John 11:12-13 NLT)

It’s difficult to understand someone who doesn’t have the same language of faith, who doesn’t have vision, who doesn’t see what you see.
Negative and depressed people constantly use negative, pessimistic language and infect others.

In this pandemic we need to speak the language of faith, believe that better times are coming, believe that we will do well. (Isa. 3:10; Jer. 29:11).

Think about it:

What is the language that you usually use, that of faith or that of the news?
Have you been infected by the negative language of others or do you spread your faith to others?
What are you waiting for in your life in 2021?
