WALL THICKNESS
The thickness of the walls speaks of how much protection you want to give to something or someone.
- The walls of the capitol in Washington are thicker than those of a typical one-bedroom apartment in my city.
- The walls in the security room where the money is stored in a bank are thicker than the walls of my closet where I keep my shoes.
- The city walls called New Jerusalem are 65 meters wide. They are thicker than any I have ever known on earth.
- The impressive 13,000-mile-long wall of China, built over several centuries, is only about 5 meters thick.
- The city where we will live with God has walls 65 meters wide or 216 feet. (Rev. 21:17).
The Chinese wall is made of common materials; but, the walls of New Jerusalem are of a precious stone called Jasper, and the city is pure gold. The thickness and quality of the wall tells me about the value and quality of what the city is trying to protect. Who will be in that city? God and us.
What is the most important thing today? God and people.
Think about it:
What else do you imagine in the New Jerusalem?
How do you think our life with God will be like there?
Did you know how important you are to God?
