We weren’t created for loneliness

WE WEREN’T CREATED FOR LONELINESS

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”  (Genesis 2:18 NLT)

We were not created for loneliness. We are social beings.
That is why this coronavirus pandemic has been so devastating, because humans have been distanced not only physically, but emotionally.

This passage speaks in context of why God created Adam’s wife. Does this mean it is not good for a person to be single?

1. Marriage is the most intimate and important relationship of married people. It is a lifelong relationship.
2. Marriage is not the only relationship for which we were created. It is not good for a marriage to be alone, and it is also not good for a single person to be alone.

Both married and single people need human ties.
It is also good to have some personal relationships with healthy friends and family.

We live in a world with other people, and we will be more effective in relating to others. There is more satisfaction at work, school, church, basketball team, etc. when we have some human connections that encourage us, motivate us and love us.

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. (Eccles. 4:9 NLT)

Think about it:

Despite the pandemic in what way do you stay connected to your friendships?
Who do you count on to energize, motivate and inspire you?
Who are you that kind of person for?
