HOW DID JESUS OVERCOME GRIEF ?
he said to his advisers, “This must be John the Baptist raised from the dead! That is why he can do such miracles.”. (Matthew 14:12 NLT)
1. How did Jesus react to the death of John the baptist?
Jesus was pained by the death of his cousin. He took time alone to process his pain, a time to reflect alone.
Perhaps Jesus asked himself: “Is it even worth it if this keeps happening to good people? ““Will I end up like John?”
Difficult things have happened this year because of the pandemic, we have said goodbye to loved ones.
We need time alone to process thoughts and emotions. A moment of silence is necessary. We can’t walk away forever, we just need a moment to process.
Perhaps in the midst of your pain you have asked yourself: “Why do bad things happen to good people?” “Is it worth it to serve God?” “Has my years of service in my HOP been worth it if this person has returned to the world?” “Is it worth it to continue tithing and offering?”
Those situations and questions can come. It’s normal to think these things in the midst of trials and pain.
That’s why Jesus sought a moment to process his thoughts and emotions. How did Jesus overcome grief?
To be continued….
Think about it:
What test are you going through?
Have you taken time alone to process your thoughts and emotions?
What questions have you asked yourself?
