Laughter can hide the pain

LAUGHTER CAN HIDE THE PAIN

Laughter can conceal a heavy heart,  but when the laughter ends, the grief remains.
(Proverbs 14:13 NLT)

A fake laugh can hide pain, sadness, or anger that there can be in a person, but it’s only a temporary appearance.
The majority of us put on a superficial face that helps us “fit in” at work, school, church, etc.
We live in a modern world where it’s difficult to have many true friends who we can trust and be accepted as we are without being judged.

We give a superficial laugh because we are adults, and we are supposed to act mature and professional in the workplace.

Laughter can conceal a heavy heart,  but when the laughter ends, the grief remains.
(Proverbs 14:13 NLT)

Many times it’s difficult to open our hearts because we fear being betrayed.
But it’s refreshing to be part of a small group like a Connection Group where we can laugh, cry and be ourselves as we all grow and mature together.
It’s so helpful to have a group where we all open our hearts!
If we live by appearances and with a fake smile, it will only increase our stress and pain; but when we are healthy and free then the smile is genuine and lasting.

Oh, dear Corinthian friends! We have spoken honestly with you, and our hearts are open to you. 12 There is no lack of love on our part, but you have withheld your love from us. 13 I am asking you to respond as if you were my own children. Open your hearts to us!            (2 Corinthians 6:11-13 NLT)

Think about it:

Can you easily open your heart to others?
Why do you think it is important to open your heart with some trusted people?
How has it helped you when you have opened your heart?
