TWICE HE APPEARED TO HIM AND NOT EVEN THEN DID HE OBEY

The LORD was very angry with Solomon, for his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice.. (1 Kings 11:9 NLT)

Amazing! As I read this passage, I see that God appeared to Solomon twice and he didn’t even obey!
Sometimes we say: “If only God appeared to me personally, I would do such and such a thing, I would really fear God, I would give up that vice, I would change my way of being”, and so on.
But I’m not so sure if that happens, because here in this passage I see a man like King Solomon who, even though God appeared to him twice, still turned his heart away.

The LORD was very angry with Solomon, for his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. 10 He had warned Solomon specifically about worshiping other gods, but Solomon did not listen to the Lord’s command. (1 Kings 11:9-10 NLT)

The consequences? His next generation lost everything. His children lost the throne.

So now the Lord said to him, “Since you have not kept my covenant and have disobeyed my decrees, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your servants.; (1 Kings 11:11 NLT)

Lord, help me to know how to move by convictions, even if you don’t appear to me twice like Solomon, I will walk by faith, I will strive to fulfill your directions and purpose for my life. Amen.
