DON’T BE AFFECTED BY WHAT OTHERS THINK OF YOU
Part 2
…When she saw King David skipping about and laughing with joy, she was filled with contempt for him.(1 Chronicles 15:29 NLT)
We live in a comparison society. This leads to contempt and insecurity.
Reality shows put pressure to be like others.
Fashion tells you that if you don’t bring clothes of a certain brand, you are left behind.
Famous influencers on Instagram and Facebook tell you how you should dress, how you should style your hair, how you should vacation, what vehicle you should have, what size of lips or hips you should wear with plastic surgery, etc.
It’s very difficult to live trying to please everyone!
Let’s live to please the audience of one: Jesus Christ.
This is how David lived:
David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!” (2 Samuel 6:21-22 NLT)
Who am I trying to please?
I declare in the name of Jesus that I live for the audience of one: God.
I am not affected by what others think of me.
I am a purpose-born, success-oriented individual with a Kingdom mission and I refuse to be distracted by petty things, people, and comments.
I live for God and in Him I am complete and secure. I am loved and I can love others.
I am crowned with unfailing love and favor;therefore, I can love people regardless of their opinions.
Think about it:
Who are you trying to please?
Does it worry or affect you what others think of you?
Do you try to be like everyone else in order to be accepted?
