The benefit of obeying whether we like it or not – Part 2

THE BENEFIT OF OBEYING WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT
Part 2

Pray that the Lord your God will show us what to do and where to go.”
Whether we like it or not, we will obey the Lord our God to whom we are sending you with our plea. For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us.”. (Jeremiah 42:3 -6 NLT)

Yesterday we were sharing that there are people who ask God for direction, but if they don’t like His answer, they won’t obey it. They are the ones who obey the Lord, but as long as He answers their prayers according to their convenience, their tastes or their whims.

This passage of the Bible shows us the following:

1. Pray and ask God before making important decisions.
Pray that the Lord your God will show us what to do and where to go.”…. (Jer. 42:3 NLT)

2.Obey His Word even when we don’t understand, or it makes us uncomfortable.
Whether we like it or not, we will obey the Lord our God to whom we are sending you with our plea… (Jeremiah 42:6 NLT)

3. Receive the benefits of obedience to God.
What are the benefits of obeying?
… For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us..  (Jeremiah 42:6 NLT)

Context: Jeremiah told them not to go to Egypt, but they didn’t believe, they were afraid to obey, and they paid the consequences. They had not been sincere when asking

For you were not being honest when you sent me to pray to the Lord your God for you. You said, ‘Just tell us what the Lord our God says, and we will do it!’ And today I have told you exactly what he said, but you will not obey the Lord your God any better now than you have in the past.  So you can be sure that you will die from war, famine, and disease in Egypt, where you insist on going.”». (Jeremiah 42:20-22 NLT)

Think about it:

How have you prayed lately?
Are you open to hearing the truth and willing to respond with joy, even if you don’t like it?
