THE BENEFIT OF OBEYING WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT
Whether we like it or not, we will obey the Lord our God to whom we are sending you with our plea. For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us.”. (Jeremiah 42:3 -6 NLT)
Someone said that “there are people who ask God for a job they don’t want to find.”
This makes me think of others who ask God for direction, but don’t really want to obey what He answers them.
They pray to know God’s will, and they say to him: I want to do your will, but in reality they want to act on their own “stubbornness”, on their own will.
For example, they pray asking the Lord if it’s his will to let them marry the handsome man from the neighborhood, even if he is drunk, abusive, jealous, violent, controlling, full of debt, and doesn’t like to work. Why ask and pray about it?
And what will we say about the boy who prays for the girl…
These are the ones who obey the Lord, but as long as he answers their prayers according to their convenience, their tastes or whims.
Whether we like it or not, we will obey the Lord our God to whom we are sending you with our plea. For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us.”. (Jeremiah 42:3 -6 NLT)
To be continued….
Think about it:
Are you one of those who obey or disobey God depending on whether you like His answer or not?
Have you told God that you want to do His will? Have you done it at your will?
