The past is no excuse to fail

THE PAST IS NO EXCUSE TO FAIL

Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago. Watch for the new thing I am going to do. It is happening already—you can see it now! I will make a road through the wilderness  and give you streams of water there. (Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT)

God tells us not to think about the past anymore because He has a better future for us.
“What I suffered in the past is not an excuse for failure. Others have suffered more than me and they overcome it.” P. Dinora Jimenez.

1. My limitations are not an excuse.
Zacchaeus was short, but he found a tree.
Moses had a stutter, but he became a great leader.
Simon was unstable and he denied Christ, but he became the great apostle Peter.

2. Culture is not an excuse.
God removed Abraham from his culture.
God surpasses cultures. He can take us from a culture where no one studied and make us the first university graduate in the family, the first pastor, lawyer, or doctor.

3. The family I was born into is not an excuse.
When my father and my mother forsake me, then (the Lord) will take care of me. (Psalms. 27:10 NKJV)

4. Difficulties are not an excuse to give up.
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed…We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. (2 Cor. 4:8 NLT)

5. My sins of the past are not an excuse.
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. (Rom. 8:1 NLT)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Cor. 5:17 NKJV)

Think about it:
Do you think more about your past than your future?
What is your most used excuse and what do you need to remove?
Do you know people who have suffered more than you and have overcome it?
In what ways have you experimented that regardless of your past, God has made all things new in your life?
