Don’t lose your compassion

DON’T LOSE YOUR COMPASSION

The LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob. (Isaiah 14:1 NIV)

Compassion is the word that stood out to me today while I was reading my Bible.
It’s very easy to become unkind in this corrupt world.
It’s a challenge to continue being a compassionate person when it seems like everyone is trying to take advantage of you.
You try to see people with compassion, but then, the same people look for ways to take advantage of you.
They look for every opportunity to get more money from you, charge you more for the taxi ride, for the car repair, they try to sell you something that you don’t need and more expensive, etc.
It’s difficult to be compassionate towards people that are rude at the doctor’s office, at the grocery store, on the freeway or at the airport, etc.
It’s difficult to feel compassion when you are around toxic relatives, bitter and negative people, people who are constantly cursing, etc.

But the opposite of compassion is not an option for me.
I shouldn’t allow them to make me the same.
I will not follow that path.
I will not become bitter, resentful, a thief or a liar.
I will not contaminate my heart.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32 NIV)

Will continue…

Think about it:
Have you lost compassion?
Have you let toxic people affect you or have you guarded your heart?
Why do you think it’s important to God that we are compassionate people with others?
