Let’s cut the umbilical cord

LET’S CUT THE UMBILICAL CORD
OF CUSTOMS AND CULTURE

And though they worshiped the Lord, they continued to follow their own gods according to the religious customs of the nations from which they came. (2 Kings 17:33 NLT)

It’s hard to be successful when someone wants to follow God, but actually also wants to do a combination of their old ways and their new ways in God.

The results we see in our lives are because of the way we have thought and acted up until today.

It is not enough to mention the name of God to obtain his blessings.
If we want different results, we need different actions.
If we want new results, these are not given by mixing sin and holiness.

And though they worshiped the Lord, they continued to follow their own gods according to the religious customs of the nations from which they came. (2 Kings 17:33 NLT)

Halfway obedience is disobedience.
We need to be defined in our convictions.

do not worship other gods. You must worship only the Lord your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.” But the people would not listen and continued to follow their former practices. So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same. (2 Kings 17:38-41 NLT)

Think about it:
Do you have the expected results in your life?
What customs do you need to leave that you know are not pleasing to God?
What do you need to do in order to receive all the blessings you expect from God?
