COMPASSIONATE
I can see that we live in a world where compassion is not common.
Compassion is feeling sadness for the suffering of others and to be moved to do something. The word compassion makes me think in words like: Pain, pity, mercy, shame, charity, etc.
We are losing sensitivity due to the exposure of exaggerated violence shown in movies and the cruel images shown in social media platforms.
Previously we would not see much of this, because some of it would only come out in the television news, radio or in the newspaper.
Today it’s easy to witness bloody or violent scenes through social media platforms within minutes of the occurrence, and sometimes even in real time.
For example, it is easy to witness the bombings in the Ukraine and no longer be moved to send an offering to those who are fleeing and are being left without a house and clothes, etc.
To be continued…
Think about it:
Do you consider yourself to be a person filled with compassion?
What do you feel when you see young people drugged in the streets, or when you see earthquakes or catastrophes in other parts of the world on the news?
What do you do or what have you done about it?
