HE COMMITTED IN PUBLIC

The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence. He pledged to obey the Lord by keeping all his commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. In this way, he confirmed all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll, and all the people pledge themselves to the covenant. (2 Kings 23:3)

Do you want to be successful when you want to achieve something? Declare it in public! Make a public commitment!

1.When you make a public commitment, there is a much greater chance that you will follow through and accomplish what you set out to do.
At the beginning of each year we do a twentyone day fast with the church. I don’t feel like doing it, but when I commit myself in public I feel determined to do it.

When I made a commitment to the church that we would read three chapters of the Bible daily, I experienced a break in my discipline that later became a habit.

When my Connection Group and I committed to read fifty pages of a book each week, we made it a habit.

But it all started with me committing in public.

That is why, when I confessed Christ as my Savior, I did it in public, there was no turning back and for more than thirty years I have served my Lord.

2.When the leader makes a public commitment, then the rest of the people also make a commitment.
Josiah publicly committed himself to keeping God’s commandments and look what happened:

The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence. He pledged to obey the Lord by keeping all his commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. In this way, he confirmed all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll, and all the people pledge themselves to the covenant. (2 Kings 23:3)

Think about it:
What steps can you take today to publicly commit to a goal or habit you want to establish in your life?
How does a public commitment help you stay motivated and keep moving forward with your spiritual goals?
How do you think your public commitment can inspire others to follow your example in their own commitment to God?
