The hideout

THE HIDEOUT

Joash remained hidden in the Temple of the Lord for six years while Athaliah ruled over the land. ( 2 Kings 11:3 NLT)

This child Joash was hidden in the temple. He was there safe for a few years until he could be king.
The temple refers to God.
The temple tells me about a refuge, a hiding place.
There are different places where we can hide, but God is the safest refuge.
David hid in caves. Soldiers can hide in trenches, wells, in the dark, in the middle of the forest, etc.
People sometimes want to hide to not face our realities, and we take refuge in work, materialism, fame, power, addictions, etc.
This child was born to be king, but he faced dangers that wanted to kill him; likewise, we have been born with a great purpose from God to reign and lead, but there will be dangers in life that we will sometimes face.
This child was hidden in the temple, and this makes me think today that my safest refuge has always been God.
Human beings fail, but God never fails. Men may betray, but God never betrays. Men sometimes have power and sometimes are weak, but God is always safe.

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. ( Psalms 119: 114 NKJV)
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10 NKJV)
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. ( Psalm 46:1-2 NLT)

Think about it?:
In what areas of your life have you looked for refuge in temporary things instead of seeking the security and protection of God?
How can you make God your safe hiding place and refuge in times of difficulty and danger?
What steps can you take to strengthen your relationship with God, recognizing that He never fails and is always willing to help you?
