Those who say goodbye at night

THOSE WHO SAY GOODBYE AT NIGHT

What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans. You rise at dawn and hurry to carry them out, simply because you have the power to do so. (Micah 2:1)

There are people who can’t sleep and wake up at night.
What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans.

Some can’t sleep at night because they’re plotting evil, but others wake up worried about the burden of helping others.
Some of us wake up because the love of God constrains us ( 2 Cor 5:14)
Some of us wake up worried about the burdens of those we love, our churches, our city, our missionaries, our city schools, our congregational leaders, our church families, our pastors and churches under our umbrella, etc.
I often go to bed thinking about people and ministry issues, and I wake up thinking about people and their church.
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night because of some church-related concern, or the Holy Spirit wakes me up to pray for a specific person or situation.
Have I experienced nights where I couldn’t sleep? Yes, but not because I was plotting how to steal or how to harm someone.
I would rather be awakened a thousand times by these good motives and by doing the will of God than by the diabolical thought in which criminals who abuse people live with.
There are people who suffer from insomnia because their consciences do not let them sleep, but the Bible says

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalms 4:8)

Think about it:
What keeps you awake at night: bad plans, worries about helping others, or the need to seek God in prayer?
What people or situations come to mind when you wake up at night? How can you transform these worries into concrete actions of prayer and service?
How can you rely more on God to experience the peace described in Psalm 4:8?
